Big Mountain must be skied to be believed. Amazing terrain, incredible snow, and virtually no people. It's set in the upper most corner of Montana, near Glacier National Park. The scenery is majestic and the snow that falls there is some of the lightest to be found. This is a mountain that deserves its name. With over 3000 skiable acres, it offers cruisers, powder shots off-piste, and a reasonably sized beginner area.

The resort gets rave reviews from the American ski magazines every year and it will definitely become one of those destinations you just have to visit. But overall, there is such a lack of mainstream publicity about the area that people tend to overlook it when considering where to ski. You can get to Big Mountain very easily if combining it with Fernie in a great two-week holiday. There is just so much to ski you won't get bored.

You can stay slopeside in the perfunctory Big Mountain Resort, but it's well worth considering a stay in the great little town of Whitefish, 7 miles away. Great restaurants, bars, cute shops.

Accommodation options abound at the mountain and in the town of Whitefish. There are cheap and cheerful inns, luxury hotels, and deluxe self-catering condos. The resort has a very good shuttle system so getting between accommodation, town, and the mountain is also very easy.
